Savor the Moment of Happy

I experienced a moment of happiness today that was just total. It was morning. I had my cuppa tea, fixed just right, in my favorite mug. Was sitting, sipping in a blissful place with some people I love, and I just felt happy. I thought to myself, I need to savor this feeling. Store it and bring it back to help me get through the other moments in time when things are not so great.

We all have those moments of “not-so-great.” During times of stress, anxiety, change, worry–in short, like now, while we are having a pandemic–it can sometimes feel like all is lost.

I need to savor this feeling

Separated from family. Distanced from a new grandchild, perhaps. Worried about getting sick. Afraid for loved ones. Frustrated that vaccines are so close, yet still far. Bored that we can’t travel and experience more than our four walls. Anxious about work, relationships, weight gain, aging! These things can really get me down.

But that’s when I have to bring back the moment of happy.

taking tempWhat brings the moment of happy? Accomplishments, hugs, smiles, laughs, great friends, loving families, a walk with a great friend (Patti!), a heart-to-heart with a loved one, flowers, rainbows, travel, new experiences and–this one’s for Janette–unicorns.

Of course there are a LOT more things to add to the list that bring moments of happy, but these are just a few things that come to my mind in this moment of happy. Because writing, for me, also brings moments of happy (frustration too!).

I thought it would be fun to share this thought and also ask you: What was your last moment of happy?

  1. You are so right. You coined unicorn in my mind, so I def. want to give you credit for that.

  2. Good reminder, Ginger, that happiness likely comes in moments. Thanks for the shout-out, as almost
All women I personally know and love are unicorns. The connections with them make me happy too. Plus I’m sure if walks outside we’re in a bottle, they’d be the best selling meds in the world! Thanks for the feel good!!
