The question is: If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would you choose?
This is a common interview question posed at applicants for college or employment. It’s also a popular subject at cocktail parties, neighborhood pot-lucks or any gathering of friends.
Your answer gives people an inside view of what you value.
Who would you choose?
Some popular answers I’ve heard are: Jesus Christ, current and/or past presidents, Michael Jordan, any popular sports figure, popular celebrities, scientists, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, the list goes on.
By far, the best answer I heard was from my son-in-law. He simply said, “My wife and son, my parents and sisters and your family.”
WOW!
You can imagine how touched I was, because of course he could have chosen anyone, but he said he’d rather have dinner with the people that mean the most to him rather than some famous person!
I thought about that for quite a while. Admittedly thought that’s who I want to be with, too.
So, my wish for all of you is to have many dinners with the people that YOU love the most.
Happy New Year!!!
I think this sweet little story demonstrates how one should appreciate the here and now. Being thankful at the blessings we have! Thanks for posting Liz!
I think so too!
This is a lovely little essay Liz! I think your son-in-law’s choice is ideal!
