Who doesn’t love potato chips? Salty, spicy, crunchy, chocolate dipped….they go everywhere—the lowliest burger joint and the swankiest private club serve them.
My mother once ran over her prize New Dawn roses while turning into her driveway! The reason? She had her hand stuck in a potato chip bag and couldn’t turn the wheel in time.
She’s the same about chocolate, but fortunately, she doesn’t drive anymore.
So what do you need?
You need to be able to do a plank.
Sue Sigmon-Nosach
Done on your knees and elbows, a full extension, a plank tap, or a V-plank: You need to be able to perform this exercise!
Planks are the “foundation” of fitness. Your entire body is challenged when ‘planking.’
Your core–often a Queenagers weakest point–must work with the rest of its partners to hold you up. Legs, lungs, back, arms are all engaged. No equipment needed: just a few minutes of your time every day.
I dare you to try a plank. Bet you will become a convert. You might even get an extra potato chip for your efforts.
Do you plank? How many? How long? Would love to hear from you about your mastery of this fantastic, yet simple, exercise.

Ok! Good point. I’ve done planks and hate them because they are hard to do, damn it! But you’ve given me a new point of view. I’ve had times when I did marathons (2, walking but completed), taught aerobics classes etc. They did not save up like money in a bank! Gotta keep at it! Annnnd times when I lived an old quote attributed to Mark Twain: “ When I get the urge to exercise, I lie down until it goes away”. Have some back pain for that!! Planks it will be from now on! Thanks!
Make no apologies for ‘walking’ a marathon…the distance is the same! I have done it myself. Keep plankin’.
When I started yoga after my 50th birthday, I couldn’t even hold a plank for one second. I hated planks. But I persevered. Now I can not only do planks but I can do a chattarunga-a bunch of them! And I love them!
