The Fun of Listening to Dolly Parton’s America podcast

Be entertained. Be very entertained.

Dolly Parton is a spectaular septuagenarian who has been at the top of her game for roughly four decades now. She’s got a larger-than-actual-life career, an enormous fan base that is totally dedicated, a theme park about her life growing up in Tennessee, an enormous family (she’s one of 11 kids), and over 5,000 song writing credits including Whitney Houston’s biggest hit, I Will Always Love You.

The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

Dolly Parton

Now, to add to that litany of amazingness, there is a new podcast called Dolly Parton’s America that draws on extensive interviews with Dolly and dives deep into some Dolly rabbit holes to try and explain the broad appeal this woman has around the globe. In the process, it gets into 20th century history, popular culture, politics, class, the entertainment business and a whole lot of other topics that is not only entertaining in and of itself, but is also educational.

Remember the hit movie from 1980, Nine to Five (Still fun to watch by the way!)? Or how about the war in Lebanon? The 2017 Emmy awards where Dolly was up for an award and asked to be a presenter which reunited her with her Nine to Five co-stars for the first time in forty years? That was crazy!

You know, I look like a woman but I think like a man. And in this world of business, that has helped me a lot. Because by the time they think that I don’t know what’s goin’ on, I then got the money, and am gone.

Dolly Parton

Whatever your thoughts on Dolly Parton, this podcast will make you think a little differently, perhaps even open up your mind to some new, kinder ideas and provide some tips that you can implement yourself as you strive to be the ultimate Queenager, not all that unlike Dolly herself: a warrior, yet feminine. Self-deprecating, even mocking, at times, and yet deadly serious. Kind and forgiving, yet surrounded by gun-toting bodyguards.

Lots of contrasts, lots of fun. Lots to think about.
